ZYTEC Eliminates Wear and Energy Loss from Drive Systems with Contactless Couplings

From a Fixed Connection to a Contactless Drive

ZYTEC develops and supplies drive systems without physical contact, replacing the traditional coupling between the motor and the driven equipment. In conventional installations, such as pumps, fans, compressors and generators, the rotation of an electric motor is transferred through a rigid, fixed connection.

This connection requires precise alignment. In practice, factors such as thermal expansion and foundation issues can still cause vibrations. This leads to wear, failures and maintenance.

ZYTEC replaces this fixed connection with a contactless system using magnetic power transmission. A small air gap between the motor and the driven equipment allows power to be transferred without physical contact. This eliminates a major cause of wear from the installation.

No Contact Means Less Wear and Downtime

Because the components do not touch, many traditional failure mechanisms disappear. Misalignment and thermal expansion no longer create stress within the system. Vibrations from the drive are also not transferred to the driven equipment.

As a result, bearings, seals and other components experience less wear. Maintenance requirements are reduced, and installations can continue operating for longer without unplanned interruptions. This structurally improves the reliability of the entire installation.

Saving Energy by Delivering Exactly What Is Needed

In addition to improving reliability, the Non-Contact Drive also provides opportunities to save energy. Many industrial installations operate with excess capacity, which is then restricted using valves or other control mechanisms.

By adjusting the speed to what the process actually requires, unnecessary energy consumption can be avoided. In practice, this can lead to significant energy savings. At the same time, material use, maintenance requirements and dependence on service are reduced.

The solution therefore delivers benefits in several areas at once: lower energy consumption, less downtime, a longer service life and reduced use of raw materials.
