ZYTEC Wins the Transition Award 2026 in the Energy Category

With pride and humility, we are pleased to share that ZYTEC’s Non-Contact Drive has won the 2026 Transition Award in the Energy category. A wonderful recognition, but above all, a shared achievement.

Why the jury selected ZYTEC

The jury evaluated our submission based on four criteria. We are grateful that our solution met all four.

Measurable impact

After installing the Non-Contact Drive (NCD), our non-contact magnetic coupling, the reduction in electricity consumption of a pump after speed reduction can be measured immediately. It is hard to imagine a more tangible and measurable impact.

Scale of the impact

In the Netherlands alone, our technology has the potential to save around 4 TWh of electricity per year. That is equivalent to the annual electricity production of the Borssele nuclear power plant. This would significantly reduce grid congestion and create capacity for many new projects.

Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals
ZYTEC contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including:

SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Inspiring others

Our solution is simple and immediately applicable. It enables companies to reduce electricity consumption, lower maintenance costs and help address the shortage of skilled technicians, all with a payback period of less than two years.

In short: it can be done.

This success belongs to all of us
This achievement belongs to all of us.

A sincere thank you to our dedicated ZYTEC team. Your passion and commitment make the difference every single day.

We would also like to thank our partners throughout the value chain.

Certified Partners
Facta, SPIE Nederland, Equans BeLux, Metso and many others.

Alliances
Sorama, enerGQ, 123ATEX.eu®, OptiVolt B.V., EnergyCheck, as well as the many knowledge partners and suppliers we are proud to work with.

Special thanks to GreenWish for their continuous support, to Change Inc. for organizing such an inspiring event, and to host Irene Rompa for bringing the day together with warmth and energy. And to everyone we may have forgotten to mention: thank you.

We also congratulate our fellow nominees: Dutch Climate Systems, Good Heat, Nij Smellinghe Hospital and TenneT Netherlands.

A message we would like to share

When discussing grid congestion, the focus is often on building and balancing. But there is a third solution that is often overlooked: saving energy.

Energy efficiency should always come first. After all, the electricity you do not consume does not have to be generated.

Focus on the low-hanging fruit that can be implemented quickly. With a simple retrofit on existing pump systems, we regularly achieve efficiency improvements of up to 50%. Reducing the speed of just one pump can save enough electricity to power approximately 80 households, a saving that can be measured directly on the electricity meter. Apply this to 50 pumps, and the annual savings are comparable to the electricity consumption of a town such as Zierikzee.

During the Transition Awards, Tom Middendorp and Jan Rotmans painted an honest picture of where we stand today, while also offering a hopeful vision for the future. The challenge is to recognize the urgency, change our behaviour and implement innovations more rapidly. We simply do not have time to lose.

At ZYTEC, together with our partners, we believe in taking action rather than talking about it.

Only together can we create this impact.

And together, we show that it can be done.
